I really do feel for you, I read a couple of your posts and you've had one hell of a year. I faired a little better, but not much, my place of work was destroyed. On top of that, my apartment suffured major structural damage and the building has since been condemned. So I basicly have all my stuff in a storage lot. I'm slowly getting my life back together, but I really do feel completely broken sometimes.
I really hope you make it though this ok. I really wish I could help you out.

I only had to weather the storm + 144 hours of power outage here in my 2nd floor Medical-Center-area Houston apartment with my gf, who had to pull an emergency shift on her normal weekend days (she works for the city) during the direct aftermath of the storm despite having just gone through surgery to remove all 4 of her wisdom teeth in the week leading up to Ike (such timing... eeeeesh...)...
But I'm sorry to hear that a fellow NG regular had it far worse off than myself. That is... massively the suck to read. And if 2008 has been so bad for you that this was just the last straw... I can only imagine what happened in January-August in your life.
For what they're worth... well wishes to you and good luck.

I really respect your girlfriend for thinking of others even while in discomfort. I hope you guys are doing better, I heard downtown Houston took a beating. Didn't hear too much about themedical center area. This is around the museum district & Herman Park correct?
